If we continue to incur operating losses for a period longer than anticipated, or in an amount greater than anticipated, we may be unable to continue our operations. We have experienced significant losses since inception. We incurred net operating losses of approximately .7 million for the year ended December 31, 2007 and approximately .1 million for the year ended December 31, 2006. As of December 31, 2007, our accumulated deficit was approximately 8.9 million. We currently expect to incur significant operating losses over the next several years and expect that cumulative losses may increase in the near-term due to expanded research and development efforts, preclinical studies, clinical trials and commercialization efforts. We expect that losses will fluctuate from quarter to quarter and that such fluctuations may be substantial. Such fluctuations will be affected by the timing and level of the following: Commercialization activities to support AzaSite, Restasis and Elestat; Regulatory approvals of our product candidates; Patient demand for our products and any licensed products; Payments to and from licensors and corporate partners; Research and development activities; Investments in new technologies and product candidates; and The costs involved in defending any litigation claims against, or government investigations of, us. Each column represents the mean SEM of relative fluorescence in arbitrary unity A.U. ; from four experiments. Study Notes: Field Research completed 4, 821 interviews by telephone in English and Spanish from a random sample of eligible households located in Marin. The study was conducted from June to October 2001 and interviewing occurred between July 1 and September 30, 2001. The data were weighted against the CA Department of Finance estimates to more closely represent the distribution of the population according to age, race ethnicity, gender, household size, number of residential telephone lines, and telephone service in past 12 months. It is important to note that while the frequencies not the sample size "n" ; are weighted to reduce random sample bias, the descriptive statistics are NOT adjusted for confounding by covariates, but may be stratified. Not all bar charts and pie graphs sum to 100% due to rounding error or don't know refused responses. Learning context Stritter, 1980 The teaching learning interaction occurs within the intellectual vicinity of the patient. Its focus is either the patient or a clinical phenomenon concerning the patient. Irby, 1994 Clinical teaching is at the bedside. Lozol manufactureMeasure #65: Appropriate Treatment for Children with Upper Respiratory Infection URI ; DESCRIPTION: Percentage of children aged 3 months through 18 years with a diagnosis of upper respiratory infection URI ; who were not prescribed or dispensed an antibiotic prescription on or within 3 days of the initial date of service INSTRUCTIONS: This measure is to be reported once for each occurrence of upper respiratory infection during the reporting period. Claims data will be analyzed to determine unique occurrences. This measure may be reported by clinicians who perform the quality actions described in the measure based on the services provided and the measure-specific denominator coding. This measure is reported using CPT Category II codes: ICD-9 diagnosis codes, CPT E M service codes, and patient demographics age, etc. ; are used to identify patients who are included in the measure's denominator. CPT Category II codes are used to report the numerator of the measure. When reporting the measure, submit the listed ICD-9 diagnosis codes, CPT E M service codes, and the appropriate CPT Category II code OR the CPT Category II code with the modifier. The modifier allowed for this measure is: 1P- medical reasons. NUMERATOR: Patients who were not dispensed an antibiotic prescription on or within 3 days of the initial date of service Numerator Instructions: For performance, the measure will be calculated as the number of patients for whom antibiotics were neither prescribed nor dispensed over the number of patients in the denominator patients aged 3 months through 18 years with URI ; . A higher score indicates appropriate treatment of patients with URI e.g., the proportion for whom antibiotics were not prescribed or dispensed ; . Numerator Coding: Antibiotic not Prescribed or Dispensed CPT II 4124F: Antibiotic neither prescribed nor dispensed OR Antibiotic Prescribed or Dispensed for Medical Reasons Append a modifier 1P ; to CPT Category II code 4120F to report documented circumstances that appropriately exclude patients from the denominator. 1P: Documentation of medical reason s ; for prescribing or dispensing antibiotic Antibiotic Prescribed or Dispensed CPT II 4120F: Antibiotic prescribed or dispensed. SMC did not recommend glyceryl trinitrate 0.4% ointment for pain relief of chronic anal fissures. An anal fissure is a small tear of the skin inside the opening of the anus lower end of the bowel ; . The condition can be painful, and there may be bleeding after a bowel movement. A fissure will usually heal without treatment. However, it can become chronic and take longer to heal. Ointments can be useful in relieving pain, and these may be used with a drug to soften bowel movements called a laxative ; . Minor surgery may sometimes be needed. Glyceryl trinitrate 0.4% helps to relax the muscle of the anus and reduce pain, and should be applied three times daily. Studies found that glyceryl trinitrate 0.4% ointment marginally reduces pain scores compared with other concentrations of glyceryl trinitrate 0.1% and 0.2% ; and a placebo treatment. Headache was the most common side effect reported with glyceryl trinitrate 0.4% ointment. SMC decided not to accept glyceryl trinitrate 0.4% ointment because its benefits are very small and it was not clear that it is any better than other cheaper treatments for anal fissure pain and micardis. Unlike other NIH grants, which support research projects, the Pioneer Award supports individual scientists. The award gives recipients the intellectual freedom to pursue new research directions and highly innovative ideas that have the potential for unusually great impact. The program is open to scientists at all career levels. The scientists may currently be engaged in any field of research provided they are interested in exploring biomedically relevant topics and willing to commit the major portion of their effort to Pioneer Award research. Awardees must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents. In September 2005, NIH expects to make five to ten new Pioneer Awards of up to 0, 000 in direct costs per year for five years. The first nine Pioneer Awards were made in September 2004 and support scientists working on a variety of challenging scientific problems. "To maximize the diversity of those considered for Pioneer Awards, we encourage nominations from women, members of groups that are underrepresented in biomedical research, individuals in the early to middle stages of their careers, and scientists working in fields that have not traditionally been supported by NIH, " said Jeremy M. Berg, Ph.D., director of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Dr. Berg and Nora D. Volkow, M.D., director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, are co- chairs of the NIH committee that oversees the Pioneer Award program. The self-nomination process includes a three- to five-page essay, a biographical sketch, a list of current research support and the names of three references. Nominations may be submitted between March 1 and April 1, 2005, on the Pioneer Award Web site, : nihroadmap.nih.gov pioneer . The complete Pioneer Award announcement is posted at : grants1.nih.gov grants guide notice-files NOT-ODSurvey to Society's Clinicians in Practice Says Increase in Physician Work is Result of Increased Illnesses, More Rx Drugs Increased chronic illnesses, prevention counseling, accommodating formularies, and more prescription medications were recently cited by The Endocrine Society's clinician members as indicators of the increase in physician work associated with providing evaluation and management E M ; services to patients. The Endocrine Society has been working with a coalition of cognitive non-surgical ; specialty organizations to obtain this data through a survey on physician work and E M services. These and other data were utilized to develop recommendations to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services CMS ; that the physician work values of all E M codes should be reviewed as part of the upcoming Five-Year Review of CPT codes. CMS is required to conduct the Five-Year Review every five years. The next Five-Year Review results will be implemented for the 2007 physician fee schedule. Both facilitate GABA's effects !
